That’s thanks in large part to the presence of the Cape’s two most luxe, and very family-friendly, hotels: Wequassett and Chatham Bars Inn, as well as the smaller Relais & Châtaeux Chatham Inn, whose fine dining restaurant, Cuvée, earns raves. Last year, timed for its 100th anniversary, Wequassett unveiled a $12 million redo of its 113 rooms, suites, and cottages, spread across 27 acres on Pleasant Bay. Offering easy access to soft sands set beside calm, kid-friendly waters, the resort also provides regular boat service for the quick trip to the ocean beaches across the bay. Meanwhile, the 217-room Chatham Bars Inn was renovated to the tune of $100 million a decade ago and enjoys an enviable position on the Atlantic, the curving front porch of its main hotel building offering some of the most coveted views on the Cape. Each resort earns high marks for its restaurants—both fine dining and casual—as well as for its pools, spa, and seasonal kids club. (And both are absolute wedding factories in the summer.)
